Dr. Sreeram Jaganathan

Alathurai Siruvalur Setlur, “Bala Vedanta Bhaskara”, “Pravachana Ratna Choodamani”, Dr. Sreeram Jaganathan is the Founder and Managing Trustee of Sree Ramanuja Vidyalaya, a veda patashaala operating in the suburbs of Chennai. Dr. Sreeram is a Sanskrit Scholar in the Sri Vaishnava Sampradayam trained under the tutelage of  U. Ve. Dr. S. Padmanabhan Swami, Sri Karyam of Sri Ahobila Matham and, mentored by U. Ve. Shri E. S. Mukundachariar Swami, Hyderabad. Dr. Sreeram also has an MBA (Finance) and an undergraduate degree in Physics.

Following his MBA degree, Dr. Sreeram had an illustrious career in ICICI Bank for 4 years and in TCS for about six years. During his tenure at TCS he had taken a transfer to Hyderabad where he met Mukundachariar Swami who inspired him as a true follower of Srivaishnava Sampradaya. Subsequently, Dr. Sreeram’s career had taken him to several destinations in Europe on various assignments and was becoming very successful in the corporate world.

After returning to India in 2008, with the blessings of Divyadampati Dr. Sreeram quit his job at TCS in 2009 with the sole aim of returning back to the sampradaya and serving the sampradaya. He had a young family to support and meager savings. With stretched financial resources, he completed his MA and M.Phil in Sanskrit at University of Madras and then pursued to complete his PhD in Sanskrit under the guidance of Sri U. Ve Dr. S. Padmanabhan Swami. Since then he has dedicated himself to the service of Sri Vaishnavism and Sanatana Dharma in general.

Currently, as the founder of Sree Ramanuja Vidyalaya, Dr. Sreeram teaches and oversees the management of a veda patashala. Under a short span of a few years the patashala has grown rapidly with about 5 teachers/acharyas and 5 full-time students. About a dozen students study on a part-time basis. The patashala offers both Vedic and English education free of cost to boys who have undertaken upanayanam. The patashala has also started hosting Veda and Sanskrit competitions to recognize and encourage students. 

Dr. Sreeram is also an Associate teacher/acharya at Madurantakam Patashala where he teaches Sahitya and English. He is a consultant at Krishnamacharya Healing and Yoga Foundation. In addition, he is a voracious author and poet in Sanskrit, Tamil and English.  He has also founded a goshala (Sree Ramanuja Goshala) in a village Arasanipalai, located about 80 km outside Chennai. Dr. S Padmanabhan is presently the Srikaryam and Aradhaka at Sri Ahobila Mutt. He retired as the Professor & Head, Department of Sanskrit, University of Madras.

Academic Qualifications:

Completed B.Tech in Electronics and Communications from J.N.T.U., A.P in the year 1983.  

 Worked as an R&D Engineer in Analog and Digital Instruments Pvt Ltd., Hyderabad from 1983 to 1984. 

Taught Digital Electronics and Microwave Engineering as Lecturer in College of Engineering,   Shegaon (Near Akola in Maharashtra, Shegaon is well known for Gajanan Maharaj temple and Vaarkari Vaishnava Sampradaya) from 1984 to 1989. Organized weekly Vittal Bhajans (Abhangs) in Hostels as warden. 

Conducted Pauli (Vaishnava nrutya) for the students in the college campus. 

Served as a member of Einstein Foundation International, Nagpur and Vidharbha Academy of Sciences, Nagpur from 1985 to 1989.As a member in Board of Studies, framed syllabi for “Radar Engineering” and “Digital Signal Processing” for Amaravati University. 

Served as Freelance Research Scholar in Bhaktivedanta Institute, Juhu, Mumbai (Academic wing of ISCKON with head quarters at Los Angeles) from 1991 to 1992. 

Presented lectures on topics like “Quantum Physics and beyond”, “Artificial Intelligence and Vedanta”, ”the Atom and beyond”, “Modern Science in Bhagavad-Gita” etc., at IIT Powai (Mumbai) and UDCT (Mumbai) campus regularly from1991 to 1992. Conducted regular weekly classes for academic staff and M-Tech Students of IIT Powai from 1991 to 1992 on “Vedanta and Modern Science” which evoked a tremendous response from the elite. 

Worked as a lecturer in Physics and Electronics in Ken Degree and Junior College from 1993 to 2004 and as a Vice –Principal from 2000 to 2004. 

In 1985 he passed in distinction in Hindustani singing and harmonium (Prathamam) conducted by Akhila Bharatheiya Gandharva Vidhayala, Miraj. 

He was invited to train teachers in teaching Modern Physics by the District Education Officer ((DEO) Ranga Reddy) , in December 1998 at Holy Family High School, LalBazar. 

He taught Swami Desikan Stotrams to more than 1000 students (including Christians and Muslims), conducted competitions and awarded prizes to all participants in the competitions while he was a lecturer in Ken Degree College. 

He also coached Intermediate and Degree Students in Mathematics, Physics and Sanskrit at home from1990 to1993. Out of 6 students whom he coached for Engineering Entrance at home (the only batch he coached at home) ,one secured seat in IIT Chennai, one in Anna University and the rest in O.U and JNTU. 

He resigned the job in 2004 to propagate Swami Desikan Stotrams (Holy Hymns in Sanskrit). Currently spreading Desika Stotrams (Sanskrit Verses) through a network of selected students who take classes at different places. 

He completed his advance diploma in German Language in R.K.Mutt with a distinction in 2004. He worked as a part time lecturer in Vivekananda VaniSamstha (R.K.Mutt, Hyderabad) in German Language in 2005. 

He also taught German Language to MBA (Foreign Trade) students of Badruka Institute of Foreign Trade from 2002-2003. 

He has completed his diploma in German from the English and Foreign Language University, Hyderabad with Distinction. He holds a record of scoring 100% marks in German grammar in the senior diploma course of Osmania University, Hyderabad. 

He has also completed Advanced Diploma in Sanskrit Language from Vivekananda VaniSamstha (R.K Mutt Hyderabad) with distinction. 

He won many prizes as a student in all competitions conducted by Sri Desika Sabha, Secunderabad. He has been a regular Judge for Thiruppavai, Vaaranamayiram and SwamiDesikan Stotrams   

Competitions being conducted every year by Sri Desika Sabha, Hyderabad. He is a member of Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha Seva Samithi , Secunderabad. 

He takes classes at Sri Ahobila Mutt and Srimad Aandavan Ashramam regularly. He has been a managing committee member of Sri Desika Sabha.

Spiritual Qualifications:
He has the grace of H.H.Srimad Aandavan, Srimad AZhagiyasingar, Srimad Parakala Swami and Srimad Parvaakottai Aandavan.  

He hails from the illustrious Senji Thirumalai Nallan Chakravarthi Svayamaacharyaa Parampara. He had Kaalakshepam under the Lotus Feet of H.H.Srimad Aandavan in” Chillarai Rahasyangal” and “Rahasyatraya Saaram” from Sri U.Ve Annadhoor E.S. Varadachariar Swami, Mysore.  

He has been awarded the title “Sri Desika Vaangmaya Prachaara Dhurandharaha” by H.H. Sri Parakala swami and “Sri Desika Stothra Ratnam” by H.H. Sri Parvaakottai Aandavan. 

Learnt all Prabhandhams from his Samsrayana Aacharya Sri U.Ve.Elangadu Rajagolachariar Swami (His Paternal Grand-Father and disciple of H.H. Garudapuram Swami. 

Learnt Srimad Bhagavatam with Veeraraghaveeya commentary under the Lotus Feet of Sri Sri Bhagavandas Maharaj, Vedanta Desika Peetam, Kesighat, Vrindavan. (Disciple of Sri Devaraha Babaji, a great SriVaishnava Yogi who lived 120 years and who had immense faith in Swami Desikan. He performed Prappati under the Lotus feet of H.H.Srimad Abhinava Ranganaatha Parakala Swami.).  

Learnt all Vedaanta Desika Stothrams from U.Ve. Payyambaadi Chetlur Srotrium Sri U.Ve.P.V.Pranataatiharaachariar Swami and (Vaikuntavasi) Sri U.Ve.Narasimharaghavaachariar ( former SriKaryam Swami, Srirangam Srimad Aandavan Aashramam). He has been compiling notes of all upanyasams in Secunderabad right from the year 1975.

PRESENT KAINKARYAM: 
Besides rendering numerous Upanyasams in English, Tamil, Telugu and Sanskrit on Sampradaya. Conducting regular weekly classes in Swami Desikan’s Stotrams at Alwal Sri Balaji Temple, Sri Ahobila Mutt, Srimad Aandavan Aashramam, Sri Datta Talent High School Alwal and Santoshi Maatha High +School LalBazar.   

Conducting reciting competitions in Swami Desikan’s Stotrams and awarding prizes to all the participants, conducting simple Sanskrit classes and sending the students to appear in examinations conducted by Rashtriya Sasmkrutha Samasthanam, New Delhi and Sasmkrutha Bhaasha Prachaara Samithi, A.P.   

He Conducts free Residential student orientation camps at his residence and at Sri Ahobila Mutt (Hyderabad) , where students are taught simple Yogasanas, Swami Desikan’s Stotrams, Bhajans, Simple Spoken Sanskrit, Simple games etc..which have become an instant hit.  

Certificates and prizes are being awarded on every occasion to all participants. 

He delivers Tele Upanyasams to devotees in USA and Singapore often during weekends.

Dhesika sthotram classes every Sunday at Alwal Sri Balaji Temple from 08:30 am to 10:30am.

Residential camps during summer & winter vacations (present camp is being held at Sainkpuri, 24th to 28th dec 2010)
